Kerry Olson combines expertise and passion to help companies plan for growth, manage risk, promote their brands and achieve success. With an extensive background as an executive in-house at major franchise brands and in private practice, Kerry is uniquely positioned to understand the pressure points for senior leadership and the importance of quickly analyzing issues and implementing business-minded solutions. Kerry believes in the power of collaboration, focusing on knowing her clients’ businesses and building relationships to improve outcomes and maximize impact.

Kerry’s in-house background includes serving as: •Executive Vice President and Global General Counsel of Carlson Hotels, Inc. •Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Carlson, Inc. •Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of International Dairy Queen, Inc. •Associate General Counsel of Buffalo Wild Wings, Inc.

Kerry’s representative experience includes: •Managing the pre-sale due diligence and leading a cross-functional team through the sale of Carlson Hotels, Inc. to HNA Group •Structuring and negotiating development and franchise agreements in the U.S. and over 20 countries abroad •Developing and implementing strategic business initiatives •Leading company efforts related to compliance with anti-corruption and anti-bribery laws and regulations •Advising on state and federal regulatory matters •Counseling on issues related to supply chain, marketing, and loyalty programs •Working with franchisee advisory councils and associations

Kerry is a past chair of the International Franchise Association (IFA) Women’s Franchise Committee and Legal Legislative Committee, as well as a past Division Director of the ABA’s International Franchise and Distribution Steering Committee. She also speaks regularly at CLEs, bar association and other franchise industry events.
